It is important to understand the concept of Hideway's VPN.
What we do:
- We hide your IP address (everything you do on the Internet will be done with our Austrian IP address, not yours)
- We encrypt all traffic between your computer and our server.
What we can NOT do:
- Encrypting traffic between our Austria-based server and a third-party computer
So in some cases it is important to use additional security measures:
- Whenever possible use SSL to access websites (https instead of http)
- Use email encryption techniques (for example PGP)
Also we cannot protect you if there is some spyware/trojan stored on your local computer. So make sure your computer is clean!
And last but not least: Check from time to time if your VPN is "up" (small green computer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen) and use our
VPN Check!
