You think it is easy but its not!

I have the following editing options under PPTP VPN:
1- VPN Name
2- Set VPN server
3- Enable encryption
4- DNS search domains
And then there is a username/Pass form!

I've tried it with these setting with no positive result:
1-Hideway
2-vpn1.hideway.eu
3-ON and OFF
4-I left this one BLANK
5- my username and pass(Yes its correct)
result:"Server hung up. The username or password you entered could be incorrect. Do you want to try again?"

Any ideas??

Hello,

your PPTP settings seem to be okay, but you could try to enter as your DNS search domains (4) either the DNS server address of your network operator or the Hideway-DNS server address (83.64.10.218).

You may also want to check
- if your network operator allows VPN connections for your phone.
- if you have the latest software updates for your phone installed.
- if you have internet/network access without PPTP.
- if you can establish a PPTP connection using WiFi/mobile phone network.

If you still cannot connect using PPTP you may need to install additional applications or files on your phone. For example like on the HTC phones with Android OS (see this external page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511849).

Tried that with no positive result!

- if your network operator allows VPN connections for your phone.

- I tried it via WiFi so Network operator is not the issue here!
- Software is up to date
- Without PPTP is my connection superb! I tried the PPTP on my PC and it works smooth.

Maybe Hideway needs to set some setting for the android connection to work!
I know for a fact that the WiTopia has a running system for androids unfortunately i have an acount with hideway and not WiTopia!

I mean its weird that its suppoused to work on the iphones and not on androids 1.6!

Ok Its kind of working now out of the blue!!

I don't know if the guys at hideway did something but all of a sudden I can establish a connection.....

BUT everytime I connect it works only for a short amount of time(the longest was about 1 min)
I mean the connection stays on but there are no more page returns.

Here is what i changed:
i used vpn4.hideway.eu as the connection server all the others give almost no page returns at all.
I also tried giving it a manual dns serverwithout any change!

IS THERE ANYTHING i can do to keep it running?

Hello,

our latest information on this VPN connection issue is that it is a not yet fixed issue of the Android system itself. Maybe you can provide any more recent info on this.

However, there may be a work-around by using an OpenVPN client called "Tunneldroid" for Android phones (more information see this external page: http://android.modaco.com/content/software/291919/openvpn-on-android/).

Maybe you could test this one on your phone and let us know if it worked for you.

So, now i've got openvpn installed in my phone but....
the .opvn file i copied from C:\Program Files\OpenVPN hw\config\ to my phone does not work. I guess its not written for android connections!
Is there any help on that area available cause I have no clue at all how to rewrite the .opvn file!!!!

I installed both "openvpn GUI" and "OpenVPN installer + Setting"
I have root access on my phone and a valid hideway account

If there is anything else i can provide to help sort out the problem, let me know

Hello,

together with the configuration file (*.ovpn), have you also copied the other 5 files (*.pem, *.key) from your KeyPack? They are necessary for authentication.

If you are using the Windows KeyPack files on your Android phone:
Please note that they probably won't work as the Android system is a linux based operating system.

For Linux based operating systems, please download the KeyPack for "Mac OS X" from our homepage (customer service > customers area > KeyPack). Copy the extracted file over to your phone and try to connect with these configuration files.

If it doesn't work, please include the complete error message (including error number etc.) in your reply.

So the Mac files helped since Openvpn starts a connection but it stays on connecting(WAIT)
Since i try to connect from Iran this could be due to my ISP blocking the connection, I think if thats the case you guys from hideway must be already aware of that!!
Anyways i use PPTP connection on my PC to vpn4 server and it works superb

I changed remote vpn1.hideway.eu 1194 udp into remote vpn4.hideway.eu 443 udp without any change.
now i dont have any log options under that application so I'm not able to see any error reports but I do have the following options:
- Use VPN DNS server(checkbox)
- VPN DNS server(text field)
- Script Security level:
  1- no external programs
  2- Built-in only
  3- Built-in + scripts
  4- Built-in + scripts(passwords)

there are also the following options under advanced settings:
- Load tun kernel module
- TUN module sttings:
  1- Load module using
     A- modprobe(active)
     B- insmode
  2- Path to tun module(which is "tun")

Hello,

unfortunately we do not have any information about ISPs blocking any services.

In regards of establishing a VPN connection there are differences between land line and mobile phone connections as mobile phone network operators are sometimes charging for any VPN connection services or simply not allowing it at all. Whether or not your network operator supports VPN needs to be checked with the network operator directly.

If the connection issue would be based on a DNS resolving problem you could try the following two options:

• In the OpenVPN configuration file replace the VPN server name with the corresponding IP address. For information on how to change the name, please see the post here.
• In your phones OpenVPN settings enter as the "VPN DNS server" the IP address "83.64.10.218" (that's the hideway DNS).

I tried all this but no change so i sat on my PC and installed OpenVPN on my XP besides the PPTP connection.
I tried to connect throgh OpenVPN on my pc with no success. This is the log i have inside the Openvpn window:

Hello,

the part of the OpenVPN logfile you posted does not display any errors. The lines following your post should contain the TLS handshake ("TLS: Initial packet from 83.65.30.29:1194, sid=").

If you are using a firewall, please check if you are allowing incoming connections for OpenVPN.

Please also ensure that you are not connected using PPTP while trying to establish a connection with OpenVPN.
